Sunnies Face Review
If you are a beauty addict that loves multi-use/multipurpose makeup products for that effortless everyday look, Sunnies Face is your brand. I mean their slogan is “beauty that gets you.” If you don’t know about them here is a recap. This Philippines based brand took Instagram by storm last year in August, when they launched their Fluffmatte lipsticks in 9 color shades: nudist (warm nude), milkshake (warm pink nude), vacay (peachy papaya), baked (terra-cotta peach), girl crush (terra-cotta pink), 143 (rich berry rose), mood (the perfect 90’s taupe mauve), hot sauce (orangy red), and major (the perfect cool red). The formula is very matte, but surprisingly comfortable to wear. In my opinion, it’s the best matte lipstick formula I have ever tried. The most amazing thing is not only that they came out with colors that were new and different, it was that they were universally flattering. Love that they are also aimed for “morenas.” Depending on where you are from or your culture “morena” can have different meanings but essentially means brunettes or tanned skin, or even both. The truth is that all shade look gorgeous from fair to dark skin tones, whether you are blonde, redhead or brunette you can rock any Sunnies Face product (except maybe the Lifebrow products since they only come in two brown shades).
I, myself being a woman of color, it can be hard to find a perfect nude that is not on the greyish undertone side. Until I got my hands on my Sunnies Face Fluffmattes (the first product the brand launched and sold out instantly), not only did I find my favorite nude lipstick (nudist), I found my favorite peach (vacay), terra-cotta (baked) and even red (hot sauce) which if you know me you know I’m all about my orangy reds. In that moment I knew it was love at first sight and that it was a brand that I wanted to continue using and trying on their products.
Secondly and thirdly, the brand launched their Glowboss highlighters and their Lifebrow duo, which includes an eyebrow pencil and an eyebrow grooming gel. Glowboss comes in three shades: hey girl (light gold), femme (shimmery coral), and mamacita (copper). It’s a multistick, can be used as a highlighter, shimmery eyeshadow or on the lips. Personally, I don’t love this as a highlighter, the reason being is that I have oily skin so I find it that if I don’t apply it with a powder highlighter on top, the product tends to move around. That being said, I do love it as eyeshadow by itself or as an eyeshadow topper. I love to use Fluffmatte vacay or baked all over my lid and then apply Glowboss femme on top, it gives the perfect semi wet eyelid look (paired with Fluffmatte Hot Sauce on the lips).
Lifebrow can be purchased as a duo together in a minimal but cute tube-like packaging or you can get them separately. It only comes in two shade: ash brown and warm brown. Now, let’s talk about the packaging. Both the brow gel and the pencil come with very little product in it. I kind of wish it would also be a bit cuter if it matched the super matte packaging of the lip dip, but with each brow shade color or be in a matte cream packaging like the fluffmatte. Those are my only two cons, since I really love the formula (already on my second ash brow pencil). The formula is really long lasting and super matte. Really like that with the brow grooming gel you need very little product, with one swipe your eyebrows are set. I use ash brown skinny pencil to create hair like strokes in the inner part of my brow and warm brown pencil to define and sharpen the arch and tail of my brow. Then I like to finish it off by applying one layer of warm brown grooming gel and on top of that the ash brown growing gel for more dimension.
Fourthly, Airblush. I have never worn or tried a cream blush mainly because of my oily skin and that I didn’t think I would like them. Also, I’m not a blush kind of person, I mainly bronze my face like there is no tomorrow (praying that Sunnies Face comes out with bronzers soon). In all honesty, what sold me in getting these bad boys was their aesthetically pleasing packaging. I really hope they keep using the packaging style of the airblush and lip dip for their new products. Anyways, I’m so glad I gave them a try. The Airblush is a sheer cheek tint, cream blush with the finish of a powder formula. There are six shades: biscuit (warm nude), moon (toasty/burnt rose), razz (vibrant berry), disco (poppy red), doll (light pink), and peached (light peached). My favorites are razz and moon, but I also love doll as a tint lip balm.
Lastly and most recent the Lip Dip. If you get the acrylic set know that it doesn’t include the shade girl crush since it launched a few days later. Girl Crush is their best selling Fluffmatte, so it made sense that they made it into their lip dip formula too. Speaking of formula it’s velvety but the finish is powder matte and it smells super fruity. The texture is smooth as butter, not patchy nor does it crack which I love. It’s lightweight making it super comfortable on the lips, can also be used as a blush (haven’t tried it yet as eyeshadow, will keep you updated on that). Although it’s on the sheer side, it’s buildable for a more pigmented look (also, for a more intense color put on a lip liner similar to the lip dip all over your lips and then apply the lip dip). For a more natural look dab it with your finger or a brush to get the perfect blotted lip effect. To create this effect I personally use girl crush with obsessed in the middle. The Lip Dips are not long lasting nor does it claim to be, but the good thing is that it leaves a bit of a stain (even after going to dinner), which I love because it doesn’t leave you with butt lips effect. Overall, I love the lip dips but note, if you want a matte liquid lipstick this is not it. It’s more of a buttery creamy hybrid of a lip balm and a liquid lipstick, similar but not quite the same as the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream.
Lip Dip Photo: Ten shades listed from top to bottom: girl crush (terra-cotta rose), peachy kinda (light peach), femmebot (light mauve pink), so good (brick rose), obsessed (perfect strawberry red), boysenberry (reddish berry), LYSM (cherry red), teracotta (ginger nude), posh (rose mauve) and coco (toasted chestnut).

Now you may be asking your self how did I get my hands on this products that are not available outside the Philippines!?
The truth is that one day while drooling over this amazing fluffmatte post on the Sunnies Face IG (they yet had other products), I was on the comment section while I stumble upon an account named @anythingswithlove, saw that she shipped Sunnies Face product worldwide. At first I was skeptical but click on her profile anyways and saw many happy customers of hers, commenting about how much they loved their products and her service. I decide to contact her through DMs and that how it all started 3 orders later still loving her service. And here’s how it works:
Think about @anythingswithlove as your personal shopper you give her the list of the Philippines products you want. She buys them for you and then ships them to you. Her IG bio lists the following brands BLK, Vice, Happy Skin, Sunnies Face, Sunnies Specs, and Studio. But is not limited to those listed, in my last order I wanted some LaLocalita products and she kindly got them for me. So if you don’t see a brand you want listed just ask her to see if she is able to order and ship it to you.
On her IG she post her international shipping dates and you have usually until the day before to make your order if all the products are available then is shipped with the rest of the order. The shipping carrier is FedEx. The shipping rates vary depending on where you live. United States is 2,300 PHP ($44.25 USD) up to half a kilogram. Its pricey but one thing she suggest is to ask friends and family to order too and to split the shipping cost.
I love that she sells the products at a reasonable price, I seen other places that charge double or triple of the retail value of the products. For example a Lip Dip retail value at the Sunnies Face store is 345 PHP (USD 6.64), she charges 400 PHP, which is around $7.70. Pnybeauty.com charges $16.95, that’s around 881 PHP.
Another cool thing about her service is that this girl boss is there every time there is a new launch. Literally Sunnies Face launched their lip dip acrylic set and she had like 20 already available for grabs the day of the launch. I luckily got my hands on one of them and they are just stunning.
Also a service she offers is that you can send her your eye prescription and she can order your Sunnies Specs prescription eyewear. Don’t worry if you have 20/20 vision, she can still get you all your sunglasses and glasses needs from Sunnies Specs.
Lastly, the steps to ordering: First you send her the order form which most include your full name, contact number, address, preferred payment method and of course your order. She will reply with the total about for you to make your payment, once you make your payment sent her a picture of your receipt. Methods of payment include PayPal, Western Union, MLhuillier, Bank Remittance (BPI AND BDO) via over-the-counter, Orbit Remit, Xoom, and World Remit. Not sponsor but I recommend using PayPal. Then you wait for your lovely package to come right to your front door.
